Amaranth in Ethiopia
The Amaranth Institute is strongly followed and represented in Ethiopia.
At our 2022 conference, Mulunesh Jebessa and Dr. Endale presented Amaranth Farm Ecolodge Experience in Ethiopia.
The Amaranth Farm Ecolodge in Ethiopia is a community-based, women-led initiative focused on climate-resilient agriculture, food security, and sustainable tourism.
As of 2025–2026, it aims to scale its operations to empower local communities and provide an eco-friendly, educational experience focused on nutritious farming. Led by local women, the lodge focuses on cultivating the nutrient-dense and resilient amaranth grain to combat food insecurity. It acts as a hub for sustainable agricultural training and eco-tourism.
Part of broader efforts in Ethiopia’s agricultural sector to implement green practices, supported by groups like FSD Ethiopia.
